4th, 6th and 7th: Do you want two bonus points added to your Constitution quiz?

Remember that we have a quiz on Tuesday covering the Constitution (structure, function, amendment process, amendments 1-27).

Take this quiz:  http://www.constitutionfacts.com/page=foundingFatherLong.cfm  and respond to the following for up to 2 bonus points--

1. Your name
2. According to the quiz, which founding father would you have voted for?
3. Tell us a little bit about the founding father that would have received your vote.
4. Briefly explain WHY you were matched up with the ff in #3 (according the the quiz, why would you   have voted for that particular candidate?).

Remember that many of the founding fathers in the quiz did not actually run for the office of the President (yay, executive branch and Article II). However, each of them did play an instrumental role in the foundation of our government.

This response, along with the current event assignment for this week, must be completed by 4pm on Friday. :)

He believed in a strong federal government and was especially driven in his work to ensure America's financial stability with the creation of the Federal Bank. His policies strongly favored wealthy, upper-class Americans. He was a bit ruthless in his pursuit of the policies and candidates he supported. He served in the military under George Washington during the American Revolution and was one of the authors of The Federalist Papers. He was famously killed in a duel with Aaron Burr. He was married and had several children.

    3. He believed in a small weak federal government and freedom of religion. Thomas Jefferson thought individual freedoms were important and thought the US should help other countries gain independence as France helped us gain ours. Thomas Jefferson had a speech impediment and had a wife that died young.
    4. I believe in freedom of religion and I think individual rights are important. If countries are struggling to gain independence I think it is important to help them. I do not mind what our president looks like but I think it is important for him to have a family background.

    2. James Madison

    3. James Madison was the fourth president of the United States of America. Some of his attributes include a respectable education, a strong fascination for reading, and his marriage to Dolly Madison, though the two never had children. He led our country into the War of 1812 to fulfill America's desire to expand territory into Canada. Madison was also a co-author of the Federalist Papers which compelled the inception of support for independence.

    4. James Madison firmly believed in the idea that the government derived from its people (popular sovereignty), and that America's federal government should be small and weak. I strongly concur with Madison's idea about popular sovereignty, but my opinion on a small federal government contradicts that of Madison's because national government is important in fortifying unification among the states.

    3. The third founding father, Thomas Jefferson made it a priority to protect the individuals rights. Another strong belief of his was freedom of religion. Jefferson was also known for helping the French in war. He felt as if it was equally important to help them fight for the same things America was going for. Jefferson was a writer, inventor, politician, lawyer, diplomat and a dynamic leader.
    4. There are a couple reasons why I would have voted for Jefferson. First, I completely agree with him on fighting for people's rights and religious freedom. It's especially important to me that people have their own choice in religion. It is their decision towards what and who they worship. Another reason is, helping the French fight for our common reasons, shows America's helpful side in situations like these. Hopefully, other countries would find this respectful. Jefferson seems like an intelligent man, and I would feel protected and reassured with him as my president.

He believed in religious freedom and that the most important role of the government was to not infringe upon the rights of individuals.

    4. I was matched up with Benjamin Franklin for a few points which were highlighted in his biography. We both believe in complete freedom of religion, that the government should not infringe upon the rights of its citizens, and we both prefer to debate on paper instead of in person. However, I personally prefer the idea of a slightly stronger central government instead of one with very little power, unlike Benjamin Franklin.

I would have voted for Thomas Jefferson. He believed in having a weak government that the people had a lot of say in. He tried to protect their individual rights. He believed in religious freedom, and said that America should help other countries fight for the same things we had to fight for. He was a very intelligent, tall man. I would have voted for him because I agreed with everything he believed in. I believe that people should have all of their rights and should be able to state their opinions on the government. I also think a president should have an intellectual background, like Jefferson’s.
