Current Event 1/28

Happy 3rd Quarter! For this 9 weeks, you are to pick a topic that you are interested in and become an expert on that topic through current events. Each week, your current event should cover the same topic, so choose wisely...pick something that you wouldn't mind reading about and reporting on for 9 weeks. A few suggestions: Healthcare, the Environment, NC politics, Court system, Economics, ect.

Current Event, 1/7/11

Happy 2011! Welcome to en exciting new year of current events and special topics. :) This week we are beginning the Judicial Branch (3/3 on the tree...ha ha). For your current event post, please select something that has to do with the courts, court cases or the law. You should not have any problems tracking down a relevant article. HINT: Check out the crime report. Have fun finding something that interests you.

Current Event 12/17

This week you have the option of either reading a new article on the topic of your choice and reporting on that OR reading a fellow classmates' post and commenting on their post. You all have done a great job finding interesting and relevant information over the last few weeks. Take at look at some of the entries made by your fellow students and consider adding onto or making an argument against their posted comment. Have fun and be thoughtful in your response.

Current Event Posting for December 3rd.

This week in Civics we are finishing up the Legislative Branch at both the national and state levels. Next week we will be discussing the Executive Branch. For your current event this week, you may choose an article that deals with either of those two topics...you can look for state, national or international news that relates to the branches. There should be a lot out there for you to choose from. Stick to the format and keep up the good work. :)

November 19th current event

Happy only 5 day week in the month of November! There has been a lot going on in the United States and the world over the last few weeks, so there is much to learn. The topic for this week is...(drum-roll)...YOUR CHOICE! Have fun finding something that YOU are interested in (and then we will be, too). Do not forget to stick to the format: first paragraph= summary, second paragraph= opinion/relevance.






 

1st Amendment Songs

This week in Civics&Economics we will be discussing the Bill of Rights. The first 10 amendments are all about OUR RIGHTS. Without them, our lives would most likely look very different than they do now. In an effort to prove to you that 1st Amendment rights are awesome and relevant, I would like you to find a song (old or new...it's up to you!) that discusses one of the first ten amendments (#1 is probably your best bet) in some way. If you know of a song, post it to the blog and maybe we can listen to it during class.
