Friday, October 22nd

Happy last day of 1st quarter! I cannot believe that we are already 1/4 of the way through the year. I have had a great time learning about current events from both classes. For this week, the topic is YOUR CHOICE! Have fun finding something that interests you. And for some even more exciting news...next week is a four day week, so no current event will be due.  :)

Just for fun...check this out!

Which founder are you?

Take a quiz to determine which Founding Father you are most like. It is only 12 questions and takes just a few minutes. If you post the result, I will add one point to any assignment/test/current event that needs a little boost at the end of the quarter.

Have fun!

Friday, October 15th.

Great job on last week's post! I really enjoyed reading your thoughtful responses to each other's articles. This week in C&E we will be talking about the Constitution. The three branches of government and their outlined powers according to the law of the land will be discussed. Please read and respond to an article that is about politics or government. With an election on the horizon (November 2nd), there should be PLENTY of interesting material out there.

I look forward to reading about your discoveries! :)

Friday, October 9th.

This week for your current event assignment, I would like you to do something a little different. Over the past several weeks, you and your classmates have been doing an excellent job finding interesting articles and thoughtfully commenting about them. For that reason, I would like you to read through some of your classmates' posts. We have seen articles on politics, education, scientific discoveries, healthcare, terrorism and classroom bullying (just to name a few). Find an article summary that you find interesting, copy/paste the address and read it! Then, read the response that your classmate wrote about the article. Under this assignment for this week, copy and paste the link into the comment box and add your own spin on the article. What do YOU think about the article? Why did you chose this article to read? Do you agree with your classmate that posted the original comments? Why or why not?

Keep up the great work! :)

Friday, October 1st.

Happy October! This week's post topic is your choice. It is a little tough to find articles about the American Revolution. You may be able to find some interesting pieces about rebellions/conflicts internationally, however. Have fun finding something that interests YOU. Stick to the format and keep up the good work. Your posts to date have been informative and thoughtful.

September 24th

Great job on your current events last week. We saw a myriad of topics that ranged from tax spending to salmonella to electronic cigarettes! This week in C&E we will be talking about the foundations of American government and the historical influences on our political system. The topic for this week's current event is American government. Look for any article that relates...it should not be too difficult. :)  Stick to the same format. Make sure to include YOUR opinion. Happy hunting and keep up the good work.

Friday, September 17

Welcome to the third week in September! This week the topic for current events is up to you (it is a little tough to find articles about colonial America :)). So have fun finding an article that YOU find interesting. Use the same format, PROOF READ your comment, and do not forget to copy and paste the link to your article.
